Alberta Ballet's: ALL OF US

img

All of Us tells the story of two warring clans who battle to inherit the earth so as to redesign its future anew. Alberta Ballet Artistic Director and Choreographer Jean Grand-Maitre found inspiration in both current events and films such as Mad Max and Blade Runner.

The post-apocalyptic dramafeatures a dynamic soundtrack highlighting 20 iconic songs from The Hip’s legendary 30-year anthology. The ballet unfolds in a futuristic landscape featuring a riveting dystopian narrative.

Says Grand-Maitre, "Beyond the Canadiana we usually attach to the music of The Hip, there lies a whole other universal wisdom which speaks, through its extraordinary simplicity, about humanity's true inner potential."

Created by five world-class designers and performed by the magnificent dancers of Alberta Ballet, All of Us is a story of love, of hope and ultimately, of redemption.

All of Us is the latest addition to Jean Grand-Maitre’s series of portrait ballets to feature music from chart-topping pop stars and musicians.

These ballets to date have featured k.d. lang (Balletlujah), Sarah McLachlan (Fumbling Towards Ecstasy), Joni Mitchell (The Fiddle and the Drum), Elton John (Love Lies Bleeding) and Gordon Lightfoot (Our Canada).
